NEW DELHI: Amarnath Yatra was suspended on Thursday after heavy rainfall lashed the valley for 36 hours, triggering a landslide that killed one pilgrim and injured three others, officials said.Video circulating online showed four pilgrims being swept downhill by a landslide at Railpathri along the Baltal route in Ganderbal district to the Amarnath cave on Wednesday evening, officials told PTI.The injured were taken to the Baltal base camp hospital, where one woman, identified as 55-year-old Sona Bai from Rajasthan, was declared dead on arrival.Authorities issued an alert predicting additional heavy precipitation across various regions of Jammu and Kashmir.The Border Roads Organisation has positioned substantial workforce and equipment on the tracks for repairs, aiming to resume operations from both base camps, according to Bhiduri.He indicated that operations would likely resume on Friday, subject to weather conditions throughout the day.Officials told PTI about a two-day weather advisory indicating heavy rainfall across Jammu and Kashmir, including pilgrimage routes.This marks the initial suspension of the yatra from Jammu this season. With this, the death toll in this year’s Amarnath Yatra has risen to 15
