Between the 12th and 13th over, cameras captured Kohli approaching Australian batter Travis Head, who was on 28 off 39 balls. Kohli put an arm around Head’s shoulders and spoke to him briefly. Moments later, Head faced Harshit Rana and edged a delivery into the air, allowing Kohli to complete a straightforward catch.

While the moment was not noticed much during the game, clips of the same have now gone viral, with supporters praising the veteran for ‘distracting’ him, which ultimately led to his wicket. The interaction appeared to momentarily disrupt Head’s focus. Known for his ability to turn matches once set, Head’s wicket proved costly at that stage. India skipper Shubman Gill rued the missed chances and highlighted the dropped catch(es) as one of the biggest dents in their attempt to level the series in Adelaide. Connolly remained unbeaten on 61, anchoring the innings to a series-clinching victory.
