US bizman complains to embassy, land owner arrested for trespassing on disputed property

Bengaluru: Acting on a complaint sent via email by an American citizen of Indian origin, police arrested a landowner on trespass charges. The accused, Ramamurthy, was arrested for allegedly trespassing on the six-gunta land owned by AS Bangaru Kuldeep, a businessman residing in United States.The disputed land is in Thindlu, Vidyaranyapura, and was purchased by Kuldeep’s father, AV Suresh Babu, from Ramamurthy in 1997.Suresh Babu passed away in 2013 and Kuldeep became the legal heir, police sources said.”But there were disputes over ownership. According to the complainant, Ramamurthy gifted the same land to his daughter-in-law, and she sold it to someone else. The matter is in the high court. In March this year, Ramamurthy allegedly entered the disputed land. Since he was abroad, Kuldeep approached the Indian Embassy in Houston as well as the city police commissioner in Bengaluru. A criminal case of trespass was registered against Ramamurthy. Accordingly, we arrested him,” an investigating officer said.
