Music director M.C. Sabesan, popularly known as Sabesh, passed away.The veteran composer died at the age of 68 on Thursday at around 12:15 pm, according to a report from Cinema Express. The news of his death has come as a shock to film buffs and the music industry. He collaborated with his brother Murali in several Tamil films and began his music journey in the late 1990s under the guidance of his elder brother Deva, and has been active in the industry for decades.
Sabesh-Murali duo’s memorable compositions
Notable films in which Sabesh-Murali have co-composed music include: Goripalayam, Milaga, Thavamai Thavamirundhu, ‘Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi’, ‘Pokkisham’, and ‘Koodal Nagar’. In their music, singer Sabesh has appeared as a playback singer in many songs. Notable among the main songs are ‘Kothal Savadi Lady’ (‘Kannethirey Thondrinal’), ‘Otta Odasal’ (‘Goripalayam’), ‘Manisha Manisha’ (‘Ninaithen Vandhai’), and ‘Ore Oru Thopula’ (‘Devathayai Kanden’).
Sabesh’s successful musical journey
In response to the music needs that arose on the internet, Sabesh-Murali also composed the background music for the film Jodi, and A.R. Rahman handled the task in an environment where it was not possible to get the work. They have also composed background music for films like ‘Autograph’, ‘Parijatham’, ‘Thalaimagan’, and ‘Irumbu Kottai Murattu Singam’. Their work is considered a special record in the history of Tamil film music.

Sabesh comes from a family renowned for music and acting. His son Karthik Sabesh and great-uncle Jai are actors, while his other uncle Srikanth Deva is a music composer, Murali’s son Bobo Shashi is a music composer. Sabesh also served as the president of the Cine Musicians Union. His passing is a loss to the Tamil music industry.
