Restobar staff assault three youngsters, including woman in Bengaluru | Bengaluru News
Bengaluru: A 21-year-old woman has accused bouncers at JustBLR Resto Bar on Brigade Road of physically assaulting her and her two male friends during their visit there three days back. The Cubbon Park police arrested two bouncers, identified as Hriday Debnath (25) from West Tripura and Dipen Khatri (24) from Nepal. Both were later released on station bail.According to the victim’s complaint, she had gone to the bar around 3.30pm on July 14 with her younger sister, her boyfriend, and another friend for lunch. After eating on the first floor and settling the bill, she and her boyfriend moved to the ground floor, where the incident reportedly began. Her boyfriend said: “While we were talking, I noticed a bouncer staring at my girlfriend in a disturbing manner. When I confronted him politely, asking why he was staring, he began verbally abusing me and then punched me in the face.”The situation escalated when the couple’s friend came and tried to intervene. He too was assaulted. When the woman tried to stop the bouncer, he pushed her, causing injuries. The group exited the bar, but the bouncer, along with two others, allegedly followed them outside and attacked them again on the pavement.“They were wearing a ring-like object that looked like a knuckle duster. They punched me and my friend on our faces. We got injuries on the nose and near the eyes,” the boyfriend added. The group then called the police emergency helpline. A Hoysala patrol vehicle arrived, and two of the accused were detained on the spot while the third managed to flee. The victims alleged they were kept at the police station till midnight. “Police accepted our complaint and advised us to get medical treatment. They also mentioned coming for the mahazar on Friday,” said the woman’s boyfriend. “We are nowhere at fault; everything has been captured in the CCTV cameras of the bar, and they can be verified,” he added.A case was registered under BNS sections 78 (stalking), 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 126 (wrongful restraint). “Since the offences attract less than seven years of punishment, the accused were released on station bail,” a senior officer said.
