NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a visit to East Champaran on Friday lauded the success of Operation Sindoor, India’s cross-border action targeted at the terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. PM Modi also highlighted his government’s welfare schemes and infrastructure push and drew a contrast between the current NDA govt and the previous RJD era, which he accused of neglecting Bihar.In a clear jibe at Lalu Prasad Yadav and the RJD-Congress alliance, he accused the previous governments of financial discrimination against the state. “They were taking revenge from Nitish ji’s government,” he said, adding that the NDA had since reversed that trend by investing significantly more in Bihar’s growth.Addressing the massive rally, PM Modi flagged off four Amrit Bharat trains and inaugurated development projects worth over Rs 7,200 crore.

Nitish Kumar praises Modi, promises free electricity and new schemes
Chief minister Nitish Kumar, sharing the stage with the Prime Minister, expressed deep gratitude for PM Modi’s frequent visits to Bihar and described them as a “big thing.” He urged the crowd to give the Prime Minister a standing ovation, declaring, “I would like to thank him… please get up.”Kumar used the occasion to announce key initiatives, including free electricity for all, a Rs 50,000 crore package for 430 new schemes, and an ambitious target to create one crore jobs over the next five years. “During the previous government’s tenure, there was no electricity. Even in Patna, it was available for just eight hours,” he said.He also announced that pensions for the elderly, widows, and disabled would rise from Rs 400 to Rs 1,100 and confirmed new infrastructure investments including a Makhana Board and support for the Western Kosi River under the 2025 Union Budget plans.Without naming the opposition, Kumar asserted that real development only began under the NDA after 2005, claiming the previous governments had failed to even utilise allocated funds properly.The visit marked Prime Minister Modi’s sixth trip to Bihar this year and comes just months ahead of the crucial Assembly elections expected later in 2025.
