Bengaluru: Angry with his wife for going out shopping despite his objection, an unemployed engineer strangled his homemaker wife to death in their Hongasandra residence in Bommanahalli late Tuesday night.The accused, Harish Kumar, married S Padmaja, both from Srinivasapura in Kolar district, five years ago. They have two minor daughters.Investigations revealed that Harish quit his job a few months ago. Since then, Harish fought with Padmaja over trivial issues. On Tuesday, Padmaja decided to go shopping, but Harish objected, saying they would go another day. A heated argument broke out between them, and Harish repeatedly slapped Padmaja. When she fell, he stamped on her neck, an investigating officer said.Meanwhile, the two girls, who were playing outside the house, rushed in, hearing the screams. By then, a couple of neighbours also rushed in. Padmaja had collapsed. Harish and others shifted her to St John’s Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. Subsequently, police arrested Harish.
