Mumbai: In a rare feat, Western Railway’s (WR) Mumbai Central division recorded 100% punctuality for all Mail and Express trains on Wednesday. The achievement comes at a time when several Diwali–Chhath festival special trains are being operated in an already saturated network. WR officials said the perfect score was made possible through careful planning, close coordination between departments, and real-time monitoring of train operations. The division handles one of the most dense passenger networks in the country, with over 1,400 suburban services and around 150 Mail and Express trains running daily across more than 600 km route. Officials added that maintaining punctuality during the festive rush is a major operational challenge, given the high passenger load and limited track capacity. The achievement is being viewed as an operational benchmark for the division.
