Mumbai: 65 booked for scuffle over parking issue on Mira Road; 35 auto rickshaws damaged | Mumbai News
Mumbai: The Kashigaon police station offcers Mira Road have booked 15 accused and 50 unknown people on Tuesday for assaulting three to four individuals over parking issues in Dachkul-Pada, Kashimira. Around 30 to 35 auto rickshaws were also damaged by the crowd in the assault which took place at 6am on Tuesday. The police arrived at the scene after an hour, complained the locals and said that they were fed up of a few miscreants who always create issues while washing their auto rickshaws, which they do by blocking the road. They also complained of the drug issue in the locality. Transport minister Pratap Sarnaik and MLA Narendra Mehta visited the spot where this scuffle broke and assured prompt action would be taken against the assaulters. The police have booked 65 people under charges of attempt to murder, causing grievous hurt with weapon, rioting, unlawful assembly and also under the sections of the Maharashtra Police Act which prohibits carrying of arms, swords etc.A complainant mentioned that the accused called for more “outsiders to help in the fight” and soon there were around 50 plus people, armed with an axe, bamboos, sickle and other arms, marched into their lane and assaulted a couple of them and also the complainant on his head. While the others escaped with minor injuries and scratches, the complainant received stitches on his head for his head injuries. He also mentioned that it was a scuffle over parking after which they called for more help and marched towards our lane. In the morning (on Tuesday) the accused had blocked the road while cleaning/washing their autos and there was an argument with the complainant who wanted to pass, but were told to wait till the auto washing was done.Mahesh Togarwad, senior police inspector or Kashigaon police station said that, the process of arresting the accused is underway. He also confirmed that around 30 auto rickshaws have been damaged in this assault which was the reason over some parking issue.
