Miscreants break SUV window, steal Rs 11.5 lakh in Bengaluru | Bengaluru News
Bengaluru: Two bike-borne miscreants broke a window of an SUV parked on the roadside at Nelamangala on Saturday and stole Rs 11.5 lakh.Atheeq Ur Rahman, 31, a resident of Govindapura, told Nelamangala Town police that the theft took place while he was returning from a bank after withdrawing cash.Rahman, involved in a warehouse business near Dobbaspet, said his uncle Zabiullah Khan, who wanted to buy a site, gave him a cheque for Rs 9.5 lakh. Rahman, along with another uncle, Rifiqullah Khan, withdrew the money from a private bank. They withdrew a further Rs 1 lakh from an ATM, and Rifiqullah gave him another Rs 1 lakh in cash. Rahman kept the Rs 11.5 lakh in a plastic bag before driving to Nelamangala to visit another bank.Rahman, who had given a mixer jar for repair, parked the SUV in front of the City Municipal post office. Both Rahman and Rafiqullah went to the shop and returned after 10 minutes only to find the right-rear window glass was broken and the bag of cash stolen.The incident was captured on a CCTV camera. Two bike-borne miscreants followed the SUV. The pillion rider got down from the bike, broke the glass, stole the cash, and escaped along with his associate on the bike.A senior officer said, “We suspect the miscreants followed the SUV from near the bank. A case of theft has been registered, and efforts are on to nab them.”
