Man stabs wife in front of children during domestic fight in Mumbai locality | Mumbai News
Mumbai: A man allegedly stabbed his wife, critically injuring her in front of her minor children over a petty domestic fight in Chembur. The Chembur police later arrested the accused, Nagesh Gaikwad, on charges of attempted murder and assault. The incident happened on June 11 when the victim, Pooja, was at home. According to the police, Pooja was attacked during a heated altercation. The couple’s son, Ganesh, rushed to alert his grandmother, Surekha Vijagar, who later informed the police. The grandmother, along with her daughter-in-law Ankita and neighbours, immediately rushed to the scene and found Pooja bleeding heavily, with her husband still holding the knife.The injured woman was rushed to Sion Hospital, where she was admitted in critical condition and underwent emergency surgery. Doctors confirmed that Pooja sustained life-threatening abdominal injuries. Police said Nagesh is a daily wage labourer allegedly consumes alcohol. Pooja works as a childcare assistant in a play school. The couple have frequent fights, police said.
