A 39-year-old man from Solapur, identified as Ajit Maidagi, was detained by Mumbai police after he threatened to immolate himself outside Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ residence, Varsha.

NEW DELHI: Police detained a 39-year-old man for threatening to immolate himself outside Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis’ official residence, Varsha, in South Mumbai on Wednesday. The man, identified as Ajit Maidagi from Solapur district, arrived at the CM’s residence with a bottle containing around 100 ml of petrol. He threatened to set himself on fire but was stopped by the police before he could act. Officials said Maidagi was reportedly upset over pending work at the Mantralaya (state secretariat). He was taken to Malabar Hill police station, where a case was registered, and he was counselled by the police.
