Kia India has finally entered the mass-market electric vehicle segment with the launch of the Carens Clavis EV, priced at Rs 17.99 lakh, ex-showroom. The bookings for the electric MPV will open on July 22, 2025, with deliveries expected to commence soon after. Here’s a quick look at all the details you need to know.

Kia Carens Clavis EV: Key details

The EV version of the Carens Clavis brings several design changes to give it a distinct identity over its ICE sibling. The front grille has been sealed off and now houses the centrally positioned charging port. A sleek full-width LED light bar runs across the width of the vehicle. The redesigned front bumper features LED fog lamps and a new skid plate, while the rear sports subtle tweaks along with EV-specific badging along with an LED light bar. Kia has also introduced aero-optimised 17-inch alloy wheels to help improve efficiency. Besides that, the model also features a panoramic sunroof.The cabin of the Kia Carens Clavis EV features a modern black and white dual-tone theme, a floating center console, and twin 12.3-inch screens. It features a two-spoke steering wheel, a touch panel for media and HVAC controls, and an 8-speaker Bose sound system. Highlights include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a powered driver seat, one-touch tumble for the second row, and wireless charging for both rows.

In terms of utility, there’s a 25-litre frunk and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) tech to power external devices. The EV also offers dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.On the safety front, it comes standard with six airbags, ESC, ABS, hill-start assist, TPMS, and all-wheel disc brakes. Top trims add Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and a virtual engine sound system for pedestrian safety.

The EV is powered by a front-axle motor producing 171 hp and 255 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 kmph sprint in just 8.4 seconds. It will be offered with two battery pack options: a 42 kWh unit with a claimed range of 404 km and a larger 51.4 kWh pack offering up to 490 km. The EV supports 100 kW DC fast charging, making it easy to top up quickly during long trips.The Clavis EV includes Kia’s i-Pedal one-pedal driving system, which allows the car to accelerate, decelerate, and even stop using just the accelerator pedal. The EV also comes with paddle shifters to control four levels of regenerative braking, helping improve battery efficiency. Furthermore, active air flaps are integrated into the front for better aerodynamic performance.
