Karnataka high court seeks report on chinnaswamy stadium stampede incident | Bengaluru News
BENGALURU: The Karnataka High Court on Thursday sought a report from the state govt regarding Wednesday’s stampede incident at the Chinnaswamy Stadium during the victory celebrations of Royal Challengers Bangalore, in which 11 people lost their lives and around 40 were injured.A division bench headed by Acting Chief Justice V Kameshwar Rao gave this direction after an advocate brought to the notice of the court the incident.When the court assembled, advocate G R Mohan informed about a security breach at the high court, which he had previously reported to the registry via email. He pointed out that individuals were permitted to access the high court’s terrace to observe RCB players being felicitated at the Vidhana Soudha. He also emphasised that despite existing security directives for all three high courts, there had been a violation of security protocols. The court instructed him to present himself at 2.30 in the afternoon session.The bench asked the govt to submit the report by the time when the court is going to take up the matter.
