Bengaluru: Tension prevailed at Srirampura Metro Station Tuesday evening after a man, caught stealing petrol from two-wheelers in the parking lot, attacked three people — including a home guard — with a knife.The injured are Girish, home guard, Chetan Kumar and Shankar, both Metro security staff.According to police, Girish, who was on duty at the concourse level, noticed a man siphoning fuel from vehicles parked in the staff parking area and immediately alerted his colleagues. The security supervisor and other staff rushed to the spot and confronted the accused, later identified as Vinayaka.In an attempt to escape, Vinayaka allegedly pulled out a knife and attacked the guards. Girish sustained deep wounds to his hands, while the other two suffered minor injuries. The security personnel managed to overpower and detain the accused before handing him over to Srirampura police.A senior BMRCL official said Vinayaka appeared to be a habitual offender. “When the security team confronted him, he had already filled a bottle with stolen petrol and was attempting to siphon fuel from another two-wheeler. He turned violent when surrounded and even threatened staff for alerting police. The Hoysala patrol team arrived promptly and took him into custody,” the official said.Srirampura police have registered a case under charges of voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation, and theft.
