Former MP appears before cops in road-rage case

Bengaluru: Former Union minister Anant Kumar Hegde appeared before Nelamangala police Monday and made statements in connection with the June 23 road-rage incident. His driver Mahesh and gunman Sridhar were arrested for allegedly attacking the occupants of a Toyota Innova, including women. Police investigation revealed a verbal fight between the drivers of two vehicles broke out while they were trying to overtake each other. Blocking the Innova, Sridhar and Mahesh attacked the occupants and broke the driver’s teeth, police said. Though Hegde’s name figured in the FIR, police sent him a notice.“Accompanied by his advocate, Hegde arrived at the police station after lunch and stayed for a little more than an hour. He made a detailed statement on the incident,” a senior police officer said.
