Cop assaulted in Mumbai local train, loses his tooth

Mira Bhayandar: A newly recruited cop of the MBVV was assaulted by four people when he boarded a Churchgate-bound local train during peak hours at Bhayandar railway station in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region on June 30. He was on his way to Pune for some official work and had boarded the train to reach Mumbai to travel further to Pune. Despite being assaulted, the cop visited Pune and completed the official task. The next day on July 1, he along with his colleague went to Vasai railway station and spotted the main accused who was taken to the Vasai Road Railway police station. In his complaint, the cop, who did not wish to be identified, said that he boarded the 8:27 am train from platform number four of Bhayandar railway station and wanted to board. But since it was peak hours, one person objected to which argument started. Once this cop entered, he was then cornered and caught by his collar by another person and then two more came and assaulted him and kicked him. The assault was so brutal that the cop lost one of his teeth and was injured. After a while, a few commuters intervened and rescued him. The cop took a photo of the two accused on his mobile phone before getting down. He could not file a complaint at that time as he had to leave for Pune. On July 1, he approached the Vasai Road Railway police and registered an offence against four accused under sections of voluntarily causing grievous hurt. Later he went to the platform to check the UP local train for Churchgate and incidentally spotted the main accused Keyur Gosaliya who gave details of the other two accused and one unidentified person. The cops could trace the second accused identified as Mohammed but the others are still at large.
