Bengaluru’s civic officials now hope to complete Ejipura flyover work by January 2026 | Bengaluru News
Bengaluru: After almost a decade of stalled promises, civic frustration, and gridlocked commute, the delayed Ejipura flyover is finally gaining traction. The 2.5km structure, connecting Kendriya Sadan in Koramangala to Ejipura junction on the Inner Ring Road, is being resurrected from near-abandonment, with Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials confirming a fresh push towards completion, tentatively by Jan 2026.The civic body has issued new tenders and work orders with a revised completion timeline. “Last month, the contractor completed about 10% of the civil work — a remarkable turnaround, given only a similar amount of work was done since the project began,” an official said. The previous Kolkata-based contractor had gone bankrupt, leaving the site in limbo for months.Launched in 2017 as a congestion-busting project for the city’s teeming IT corridor, the flyover has become a textbook example of urban infrastructure going awry, with multiple halts in construction, contractor exits, pending land acquisition, and mismanagement dogging the project. This week, the civic body began installing the second launching girder, pushing the project forward with pre-stressed concrete segments extending toward Kendriya Sadan. Officials have also warned the current contractor, who has missed monthly targets since Nov 2023, that delays will not be tolerated. A stakeholders’ review meeting was convened last week to hold all parties accountable.
