Bengaluru: In a tragic turn of events, 75-year-old Deveramma, grandmother of D Manoj — the BBM student who lost his life in the stadium stampede — died Monday morning at her residence in Nagasandra, around 15km from Kunigal in Tumakuru district.According to Deveramma’s son Devaraj NT, she was bedridden due to age-related ailments and a recent hip fracture. However, it was the emotional trauma of Manoj’s sudden death that took a greater toll on her health. “Besides her illness, she was shocked by my son’s death. Since that day (June 4), she hadn’t been eating properly. Manoj’s death deeply affected her,” Devaraj, a pani-puri vendor, told media.Manoj, the 20-year-old second-year BBM student had gone to Chinnaswamy Stadium with friends to witness the victory celebrations of Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
