Trump has called Musk’s effort to launch a party in competition to Republicans & Democrats ridiculous. But the reason third parties fail in US is that rules & legislators are stacked against them
Over the weekend, the richest man in the world, Elon Musk, announced that he would start a new political party, the “America Party,” to challenge both Democrats and Republicans. Musk spent hundreds of millions of dollars to help Republicans in the 2024 elections.
So, Democrats are gleeful at the prospect of that money being spent against Republicans in the future. Meanwhile, Trump has dismissed the effort, calling it “ridiculous”.
