Aaditya: Worli slum rehab plan altered without nod | Mumbai News
Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray on Wednesday alleged “irregularities” in a prominent slum redevelopment project in Worli and demanded corrective action by govt. The redevelopment of Subhedar Ramji Ambedkar Nagar commenced recently. It couldn’t take off earlier as several developers withdrew over the last 15 years. The project was mired in controversy over allegations of issues with land allotment, missing documents and potential financial losses to the state exchequer. In the assembly, Thackeray claimed that several discrepancies have emerged, including non-payment of rent to project-affected persons over the past six months. “The original layout plan shown to slumdwellers was altered without proper intimation or approvals. Construction of saleable flats and even bungalows has begun without completing the rehabilitation buildings,” he said.He also claimed that around 70% of the plot is yet to be handed over to govt and sought clarification on the status of the state-owned land in the project. pti
