Aaditya Thackeray criticises Maharashtra deputy chief minister’s Tesla drive | Mumbai News
Mumbai: Deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde, accompanied by the transport minister Pratap Sarnaik, drove a Tesla car outside the assembly in Mumbai on Wednesday. It triggered criticism from Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray, who said that Shinde’s motives were driven by insecurity since chief minister Devendra Fadnavis had inaugurated the vehicle showroom the previous day in BKC.After taking the ride, Shinde stated that the govt is promoting the use of electric vehicles.Thackeray said the Centre had created obstacles to the entry of Tesla three years ago.“Also, as I said earlier, Tesla could have come to Maharashtra in 2022. If the central govt would not have created obstacles, Tesla would have come to Maharashtra then. The other thing is that Tesla could have been available for Rs 25 lakh, but the pricing Rs 60 lakh. Who is responsible for it?” he said.Thackeray said that if the Centre had not debated over customs duties, the Tesla showroom in Mumbai would have opened in 2021.
