The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has opened online applications for General Duty (GD) Constable posts in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Secretariat Security Force (SSF), and Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles. You can apply directly at ssc.gov.in before the deadline.This recruitment drive is huge, offering 25,487 posts across various forces. The registration started on December 1, 2025, and closes today. Don’t wait until the last minute because online submission may face glitches if too many candidates log in at once.Vacancy details and eligibility criteriaThe recruitment aims to fill posts in Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Assam Rifles (AR), and SSF. The total vacancies include 23,467 for men and 2,020 for women. Some posts reserve 10% for ex-servicemen, and state-wise allocation applies for most forces except SSF, which follows all-India recruitment.You must have passed the 10th class or Matriculation from a recognised board. Age limits are 18 to 23 years as of January 1, 2026. Age relaxation applies for reserved categories according to government rules.How to apply and pay the feesTo apply, first complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) at ssc.gov.in. OTR from the old portal ssc.nic.in will not work. Then, log in and open the SSC GD Constable 2026 application link. Fill in the details carefully, upload a photograph and scanned signature in the prescribed format, and pay the application fee of Rs. 100 for General, OBC, and EWS categories. SC, ST, and female candidates pay no fee. Payments can be made via UPI, Net Banking, or debit/credit cards.Selection process and exam detailsThe selection includes a Computer Based Examination (CBE), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standard Test (PST), medical examination, and document verification. The CBE will have 80 questions with negative marking for wrong answers. Exams will be held from February to April 2026.Candidates who complete the form today should save a copy for reference. You can also make corrections in the application from January 8 to 10, 2026, if needed.
