Bengaluru: Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has extended train services across the Purple, Green and Yellow Lines on New Year’s Eve, while closing entry and exit at MG Road station to manage heavy crowds after 10pm on Dec 31.On the Purple Line, the last train from Whitefield will leave at 1.45am and from Challaghatta at 2am. On the Green Line, final trains from Madavara and Silk Institute will depart at 2am in both directions. On the Yellow Line, the last train from RV Road will leave at 3.10am, and from Bommasandra at 1.30am, BMRCL stated.

From Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station (Majestic), the final train towards all four directions — Whitefield, Challaghatta (Purple Line) and Madavara, Silk Institute (Green Line) will depart at at 2.45am, officials said.Metro trains will operate at 8-minute intervals on the Purple and Green Lines, and at 15-minute intervals on the Yellow Line from 11.30pm on Dec 31. In view of anticipated large gatherings near MG Road, the Metro station will remain closed for entry and exit from 10pm on Dec 31 while trains will continue to halt at Trinity and Cubbon Park stations for passenger boarding and deboarding.To reduce long queues, token sales at Trinity and Cubbon Park will be discontinued after 11pm. Passengers travelling after 11pm from these stations have been advised to purchase return tickets in advance using QR ticketing or travel with smart cards loaded with sufficient balance, BMRCL added. Additional buses BMTC has announced running additional buses from 11pm to 2am from MG Road and Brigade Road on NYE. Buses will run towards key destinations, including Electronics City, Jigani, Kengeri, Yelahanka, Banashankari, Kadugodi and other areas. Seventy buses will be deployed for these late-night services.BMTC will also run extra buses from major transit points such as Majestic, KR Market, Shivajinagar, Yelahanka, Shantinagar, Hebbal and other locations.
