Bengaluru Apartments Turn Into Party Hubs To Ring In New Year | Bengaluru News
The countdown to New Year’s Eve has begun and the city’s apartment complexes are glowing with festive lights, ready for vibrant celebrations. Apartment communities across Bengaluru are organising cultural shows, DJ nights, and intimate house parties, turning concrete blocks into hubs of celebration for all residents. These events also aim to foster community spirit and create shared memories. At Smondoville, a 1,140-unit complex in Electronic City, Shweta Pandey is leading preparations for a cultural extravaganza featuring 100 children performing a mix of Punjabi and Bollywood dances and ramp walks.

“We will also have DJ music until midnight in line with govt regulations,” she said about the event funded by the management committee with support from corporate sponsors. House parties for apartment friends Others, however, prefer smaller intimate gatherings for celebrations. Abhijeet Makhijani, a resident of Raintree Boulevard, is hosting a house party on New Year’s Eve, for four couples and their children. He has invited friends solely from within his apartment complex to avoid the risks associated with late-night travel on New Year’s Eve. The gathering at his home will also help make it a celebration for all age groups. The menu includes pizzas for children, pastas, and a mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian starters, said Abhijeet, who has arranged catering from different outlets so that “everyone can order from their favourite place.” Entertainment forms the soul of house parties and Abhijit has planned some games meticulously. “We’ll play board games like Jenga, Dumb Charades or Pictionary, and have music on YouTube in the background,” he said, adding that they have opted for a ‘Secret Santa’ gift exchange on New Year’s Eve instead of Christmas. Abhijeet, who leads off-road expeditions for Mahindra Thar owners, said his experience in these trips helps him plan memorable house parties. His club has gone on expeditions of Thars from Bengaluru to a private desert near Jaisalmer, to camp in Nagaland at the Myanmar border and to Siachen. “It’s a very vibrant community. Learnings from those expeditions come in handy while organising house parties.” Showcasing in-house talent The highlight of New Year celebrations in many apartment complexes is their focus on in-house talent. At Sobha Chrysanthemum in Thannisandra, with over 2,500 residents, guitarist Bipin Nambiar is rehearsing for a soulful performance in front of his family and friends on New Year’s Eve. “Performing in an apartment complex isn’t about a big stage or bright lights. It’s about singing in front of the people who watch you grow, the neighbours who feel like extended family, and the walls that have heard your practice every day. When you perform here, it feels less like a show and more like sharing a piece of your heart at home,” said Bipin, who used to be part of the management and cultural committees in the apartment complex. The apartment complex boasts of talents like Bharath Iyer alias Barry, who has made his mark as a fusion singer of Tamil and English songs, and young prodigies like Hana and Anshumati, who have won accolades as public performers. Cultural celebrations in apartment complexes can play a key role in cultivating talent, says Subhash Panicker, president of Sobha Chrysanthemum Apartment Association. “The joy of performing in front of your family and neighbours is just unparalleled.” Chrys Music Club, comprising 35 in-house singers, will also regale audiences with songs in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam, said Panicker. Pre-New Year bashes keep everyone happy Renaissance Rainbow Apartments in Kundalahalli hosted a pre-New Year Bash on Dec 19 with skits, comedy shows and music. The theme of patriotism and residents staged a skit on BJP leaders Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Lal Krishna Advani, said Vandana Gollamudi, former MC member. ‘The Unforgettable Doctors’ about a forgetful doctor and his brilliant assistant had the residents in splits, recalled Sein George, the cultural secretary. Solo songs and guitar performances by residents made the evening truly memorable, said Sailaja Balivada and Vasupradha Vinod, who are part of the cultural committee. These celebrations fill the concrete jungles with love, laughter, and shared memories. “At Raintree Boulevard, every celebration is more than an event. When we come together, we create a community that truly feels like home,” says Kamala Pillutla, who is part of the cultural committee. VOICE BOXAt Prestige Ferns Residency, the celebrations will feature DJ music and live performances by professional dancers. Residents are allowed to bring their extended family and friends along.
Gaurav Singhal
Our budget for the New Year’s bash is around Rs 1.9 lakh. We are raising funds through flea markets and sponsorships. Gaurav Singhal, JOINT SECRETARY, PRESTIGE FERNS RESIDENCY, HARALUR I prefer having a house party as the whole family can have fun together. It’s inclusive for the elders in the house too, and kids can run around everywhere. Most places outside get too crowded and noisy on New Year’s Eve. Also, it’s hard to go to a hotel or club as a group. Abhijeet Makhijani, RESIDENT, RAINTREE BOULEVARD Our New Year celebrations mark a meaningful end to the year-long journey of festivities and togetherness.
Kamala Pillutla
It is a moment to reflect on all that we celebrated as a community and to welcome a fresh beginning — the start of another year filled with new experiences, shared joy, and many more celebrations to come. Kamala Pillutla, RESIDENT, RAINTREE BOULEVARD The Nikoo Homes 1 Apartment Association is organising a vibrant DJ Night, with DJ DKS all set for an electrifying performance. The event featuring live music and dance is designed for all age groups.
Saswati Pattnaik
The community will come alive with dazzling lights, creating a joyful and energetic atmosphere. Food stalls and a shopping carnival will add to the festivities, offering residents a memorable experience. Saswati Pattnaik, cultural and sports secretary, NIKOO HOMES 1 My performances are mashups that I custom make, mixing songs from a variety of languages and genres, and are filled to the brim with nostalgia.
Barry (Barry The Boss)
While performing in front of strangers leads to new acquaintances and a growing social circle, doing the same for family and friends is truly special in many ways. I look forward to performing in my apartment on Dec 31. Barry (Barry The Boss), RESIDENT, SOBHA CHRYSANTHEMUM APARTMENT, THANNISANDRA I play bass in a professional band called 11 the band, but the feeling I get playing with my friends in the apartment is the same.
Bipin Nambiar
No pressure, no labels — just music, trust, and people who know you beyond the stage. Different spaces, same soul. Bipin Nambiar, GUITARIST AND RESIDENT, SOBHA CHRYSANTHEMUM IN THANNISANDRA
