In Ambernath, Shiv Sena posters list its vote numbers

Ambernath: Ambernath’s political atmosphere has heated up following the appearance of Shiv Sena posters across the city soon after the BJP secured a symbolic victory by winning the directly elected president’s post of the Ambernath Municipal Council, a result the party has been projecting as one of its biggest achievements in the civic elections.Shiv Sena has sought to counter this by highlighting its overall electoral performance, said political observers. Through posters displayed at various locations, the party has claimed it received the highest number of votes in the city and emerged as the single-largest party in terms of elected corporators.According to the posters put up by the Shiv Sena city unit, the party secured 62,592 votes and succeeded in electing 27 corporators, thanking the citizens of Ambernath for placing their trust in the pary and asserting the “festival of development” in the city will continue. While the BJP managed to win only 14 corporator seats, its morale has been boosted by the victory of Tejashri Karanjule Patil to the president’s post. The BJP leadership said it believes this win strengthens its political position and it plans to leverage the momentum in the upcoming municipal corporation elections in the region. The contest in Ambernath is particularly significant as both Shiv Sena and BJP, despite being allies within the Mahayuti at the state level, contested the civic elections separately and engaged in sharp local-level campaigning against each other, said the observers. The election results have thus created a dual narrative—BJP claiming prestige through the president’s post, and Shiv Sena asserting dominance through numbers, they added. — Pradeep Gupta
