This festive season, 42 wardens to patrol Navi Mumbai beaches to ensure revellers’ safety | Mumbai News
Navi Mumbai: Days ahead of Christmas, owing to the large-scale expected turn of tourists at Raigad beaches, 42 beach wardens have been hired on a temporary basis to ensure their safety and security. These wardens will report to the local police. The wardens have to patrol for a total of eight hours on two stretches, each of four hours. The shift hours will be from 7 am to 11 am and 3 pm to 7 pm daily. They have been provided with training and identity cards by the Raigad Security Force. The wardens will be stationed at coastal talukas such as Alibaug, Mandwa beachfront, Murud and Shrivardhan. The tourists on the beach tend to ignore the warning signs, which not only puts their lives at risk, but also increases the work of water sport operators, lifeguards, police and locals. The wardens have been appointed keeping such hazards in mind.
