Bengaluru: Infosys Foundation on Monday announced the expansion of its partnership with GoSports Foundation, widening its athlete support programme from the earlier women-centric ‘Girls for Gold’ to a broader ‘Gear for Gold’ initiative that will cover men, women, and para-athletes across key Olympic disciplines. The new phase aims to create integrated high-performance ecosystems at leading sports academies by strengthening coaching, conditioning, sports science support, and training infrastructure. The programme will now cover six sports: badminton, table tennis, weightlifting, boxing, athletics, and shooting.“Under the academy-first model, support will include upgrades to infrastructure and equipment, adoption of modern sports science practices, advanced coaching, scholarships, and assistance for athletes to compete in national and international events,” Infosys Foundation said in a statement. Nutrition planning, injury management, and capability-building for coaches and staff will form part of the expanded package. Since the collaboration began in 2022, the two foundations have supported five academies: Lakshya Shooting Club, Mary Kom Regional Boxing Foundation, Raman TT High Performance Centre, Sathish Sivalingam Sports Foundation, and Yadav Pro Badminton Academy. From this year, three more academies will come under the programme: Usha School of Athletics, Karnam Malleswari Foundation, and Malik Badminton Academy.
