Bengaluru airport crackdown: Customs seize exotic animals and drugs worth Rs 1 crore; 3 arrested

BENGALURU: Customs officials at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru have arrested three passengers arriving from Bangkok in two separate cases on November 9, seizing exotic wildlife species and drugs worth over Rs 1 crore.In the first case, two passengers were intercepted carrying exotic wildlife species including white-Cheeked Gibbon, Monkey, and Hornbill. The passengers were arrested under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, according to news agency PTI.“The passengers have been arrested under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972,” Bengaluru Customs announced on social media platform X.In another incident on the same day, officials arrested a passenger carrying 2.990 kg of Hydroponic Ganja valued at Rs 1.04 crore.“Subsequently, the passenger has been arrested under the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985,” Bengaluru Customs stated in a separate social media post.
