Russian President Vladimir Putin has sharply criticised the latest U.S. and EU sanctions, calling Washington’s new measures an “unfriendly step” that will not strengthen Russian-American relations. Speaking to reporters in Moscow, Putin said the U.S. administration is “damaging relations” while attempting to exert pressure on Russia. He also mocked the European Union’s latest sanctions, which include a ban on exporting toilets, bidets, and plumbing fixtures to Russia. Putin warned that such measures “will cost them dearly” and even suggested that the EU would find themselves “needing” Russian toilets if the bloc continues its current policy. On energy, Putin cautioned that removing Russian oil from the market would trigger a surge in global prices — including for the U.S. — a topic he says he discussed directly with President Donald Trump. The 19th sanctions package also targets Russian banks, crypto providers, and energy firms, escalating economic pressure while prompting Moscow to maintain its hardline stance. Watch for more.
