BMW India has launched the second-generation 2 Series Gran Coupe, bringing a refreshed design, enhanced features, and improved performance. The model will be manufactured locally at BMW Group’s Chennai facility and will be available in two petrol variants: the 218i M Sport and the 218i M Sport Pro, priced at Rs 46.90 lakh and Rs 48.90 lakh respectively. Both prices are ex-showroom. Deliveries begin today across all BMW dealerships. Here’s a look at the key details.

With a focus on design evolution, the new 2 Series Gran Coupé gets sharper styling all around. Its length has increased by 20 mm to 4,546 mm, while the height is now 1, 445mm, up by 25 mm. The signature BMW kidney grille now features glow illumination. Other design highlights include sharper adaptive LED headlights with blue accents, a sculpted rear profile with new taillights, and frameless doors that lend it a sleek and sporty appearance.The car comes with the M Sport package as standard, which adds 18-inch M alloy wheels, and a black diffuser at the rear. Inside, the cabin is completely reworked. Key highlights of the cabin include a new Curved Display, which combines a 1.25-inch driver’s display and a 10.7-inch infotainment screen. It runs on BMW’s Operating System 9 and brings a modern interface with QuickSelect shortcuts and voice-based controls. Other highlights include a leather-free interior finished in Veganza upholstery, illuminated aluminium trims, a panoramic sunroof, and a Harman Kardon 12-speaker system.

Tech features include BMW Digital Key Plus, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and the MyBMW app for remote monitoring. Safety is bolstered with BMW’s driving assistant, which offers features like blind spot detection, front and rear collision warning, reversing assistant, and parking assistant plus with a 360-degree camera.Under the hood, the 2 Series Gran Coupé is powered by a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine producing 156 hp and 230 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed Steptronic dual-clutch transmission. It sprints from 0-100 kmph in 8.6 seconds and can reach a top speed of 230 kmph. For added driving thrill, it features a Sport Boost function, activated via the paddle shifters, which sharpens performance on demand.BMW has also made significant updates to the suspension and chassis for better ride comfort and handling. The new setup includes improved shock absorption and more rigid body components.
