Woman and son end life over health issues in Tumakuru | Bengaluru News
Bengaluru: A 78-year-old homemaker and her son were found hanging in their Turuvekere residence in Tumakuru district. The deceased are N Kamalamma and her son N Raghu, 52. A death note left behind by them says they took the extreme step due to health issues.A bachelor, Raghu worked as a second-division assistant with a govt school, the family told police. Raghu’s father, Nagaraj, was an agriculturist and the family lived in a large house built a few decades ago.The incident came to light Saturday morning when Kamalamma’s younger son, N Rajesh, alerted a neighbour, saying no one at the house was responding to his phone calls. Rajesh works in a private company in Bengaluru, police said. When the neighbour went to the house, he saw Kamalamma and Raghu hanging from the ceiling in the hall. Police said Raghu was facing skin-related issues while Kamalamma was down with age-related illness. She would find it difficult to walk, sit and eat. “We suspect Raghu tied two saris to the wooden beam in the ceiling of the house. After putting his mother into the noose, Raghu hanged himself. However, we can ascertain the nature of death only after the postmortem report reaches us. There seems to be no foul play in the case,” an investigating officer said.If you are having suicidal thoughts or in need of emotional support, call suicide-prevention helplines — Arogya Vani: 104, Sahai Helpline: 080-25497777
