Bengaluru: A 30-year-old woman was killed near Peenya 8th Mile on Tumakuru Road Thursday after a speeding truck rammed the motorcycle she was travelling on with her husband and one-year-old child.The deceased, Lakshmi, was riding pillion when the drunk truck driver — a native of Haryana — crashed into the two-wheeler from the rear. Her husband, who was riding the bike, and their child escaped with minor injuries.Police said the impact was severe and Lakshmi died on the spot. The truck driver has been detained.The incident triggered public anger — locals threw stones at the truck, damaging its windscreen.Student dies A 22-year-old BE student died when he went out to have tea in the early hours of Thursday in north Bengaluru. The victim is Shivam Yadav, a resident of Kirloskar Layout on Hesaraghatta Main Road, and a native of Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh.Police said Shivam left home around 4.30am on a Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 to have tea in Chikkabanavara. He was returning home at 5am when he lost balance near Sapthagiri College and hit the footpath. He sustained fatal head injuries.
