Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation discontinues rounding off of bus fares

Bengaluru: KSRTC Friday announced it will discontinue the practice of rounding off ticket prices, responding to criticism from bus passengers. Previously, conductors on its premium bus services were instructed to round fares to the nearest Rs 100 or Rs 110 to mitigate issues related to providing change. For instance, tickets priced between Rs 101 and Rs 105 were rounded down to Rs 100, while fares between Rs 106 and Rs 109 were rounded up to Rs 110. In a press release, the corporation attributed the decision to the successful implementation of UPI-based ticketing system and stated the rounding of bus fares would cease with immediate effect.
