Madavara parking lot in Bengaluru Metro station shut for hours, passengers fume | Bengaluru News
Bengaluru: Regular Metro commuters at Madavara station were left stranded Friday after BMRCL abruptly shut down the parking facility, reportedly due to Union home minister Amit Shah’s visit to the city. The sudden restriction, enforced during peak hours, disrupted travel plans of those who depend on the station’s parking facility to board Metro trains into the city. The lack of official communication drew criticism from several passengers, who were left scrambling for alternatives.Kishan Srivasta, one of the affected commuters, said in a social media post: Why should people suffer during peak hours because of VIP visits? Madavara Metro parking was suddenly closed today — no notice, no alternative. This is not just poor planning, it’s disrespectful of public time.Madavara station, located adjacent to Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), is the terminal stop of Metro’s Green Line along Tumakuru Road. The parking lot is widely used by commuters travelling from outlying residential areas, who rely on it for seamless Metro access into the city.BMRCL confirmed the closure but distanced itself from the decision. A senior official said: “The parking lot was closed as per instructions of local police for certain hours.”However, the lack of warning or any signage indicating the temporary shutdown sparked outrage. Commuters argued that even a brief prior notice through digital displays, announcements or on social media could have helped them make alternative arrangements.Services to be curtailed SundayMetro services will be affected Sunday to undertake maintenance work on a stretch of Purple Line. Services between MG Road and Byappanahalli will be suspended from 7am to 9am for maintenance work between Halasuru and Trinity stations. Others services will operate as per schedule.
