Mumbai EOW arrests IPS officer’s husband in Rs 7.2 crore cheating case | Mumbai News
Mumbai: The city’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) on Wednesday arrested Purushottam Chavan, the husband of IPS officer Rashmi Karandikar, for his alleged role in a Rs 7.4-crore cheating case. EOW officers took custody of Chavan from the Arthur Road Jail and produced him before the Esplanade Court, which sent him to police custody till June 24.In Jan, two cases were registered against Chavan and others and transferred to the EOW.Chavan is currently being questioned in the second case, where he and two others are accused of allegedly cheating a Gujarat-based businessman of Rs 7.4 crore by promising him help in obtaining development rights certificates from Thane and Pune municipal corporations to get govt land at a cheaper rate. The alleged cheating took place between 2015 and 2024.
