Security man risks life to rescue blind person at railway station near Mumbai | Mumbai News

Thane: Maharashtra Security Force (MSF) jawan Amol Devre risked his life to rescue a visually impaired man at Ambarnath railway station.According to a Govt Railway Police officer, the incident occurred when the blind person was standing on the platform awaiting his train but accidentally fell onto the tracks. As a local train was approaching the station, Devre acting promptly signalled the train to stop and with the help of some of the passengers managed to rescue the person before the train’s arrival.The rescued person was identified as Siddhant Mane, an employee of BMC. The CCTV footage of this incident, which occurred on June 2, went viral on Thursday. It shows Mane waiting for the train going towards Karjat at Ambarnath railway station. When the announcement of the train’s arrival was made, Mane suddenly fell onto the railway track by mistake.During this, Mane sustained some injuries. Seeing Mane fall, Devre, who was posted on the platform, immediately jumped onto the railway track from the platform and first waved his hand to stop the train.The incident, which took place on June 2, gained attention when its CCTV footage went viral on Thursday. The footage displays Mane waiting for a Karjat-bound train at Ambarnath station. Upon hearing the train’s arrival announcement, Mane accidentally stumbled onto the tracks.Following the video’s widespread circulation, the public has commended the jawan’s courageous act of putting his own safety at risk to save the visually impaired man. The MSF jawans are posted at several busy railway stations in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region to assist the GRP and Railway Protection Force personnel in dealing with mishaps and law and order situations..
