BENGALURU: Days after the death of a girl in Mandya, the Karnataka police chief Saturday issued a circular to the state police force instructing them not to stop motorists solely for the purpose of checking documents.DG&IGP MA Saleem, in a circular, stated that on May 26, while checking vehicles for traffic violations in Mandya district, a child died in a road accident. This occurred while stopping vehicles without taking proper road safety or precautionary measures, ignoring the traffic congestion on the highway, and registering a case.

In another incident on May 13, in Davanagere district, while checking vehicles, a speeding truck driver hit a policeman, resulting in death. Following these incidents, police have been advised to account for road safety or precautionary measures or traffic congestion when registering cases of traffic violations.
