Late-night row: Woman, friends attacked by neighbours | Bengaluru News
Bengaluru: A 24-year-old woman, her male friend and two of his friends were allegedly assaulted by his neighbours in Kammanahalli, east Bengaluru, in the early hours of Sunday.The incident occurred between 3am and 3.30am after the woman, who works at a restaurant in Indiranagar, went to visit her friend Kumsuto Zhimoni, a restaurant employee living with friends in Kammanahalli.
In her complaint, the woman said Zhimoni had not responded to her calls or messages for five days following a disagreement, prompting her to visit him in person. The two reportedly got into another argument after she arrived.At this point, neighbours Mohammed Umar, Mohammed Rizwan, and others who live on the upper floor of the building came down and objected to the shouting and the woman’s presence at that hour, leading to a heated exchange.The woman alleged that when she attempted to leave, the accused blocked her and misbehaved with her. When Zhimoni intervened, both were allegedly abused and assaulted.Zhimoni then called the building owner to complain about Umar and Rizwan. However, when the owner arrived and questioned them, he too was allegedly assaulted and kicked. Two of Zhimoni’s friends also sustained injuries in the incident. All the injured were hospitalised.Banasawadi police registered a case under BNS sections 74 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage modesty), 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 126 (wrongful restraint), 351 (criminal intimidation) and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace). Notices have been served to the accused and further investigation is on.
