Karnataka govt to invite tenders for DPRs to upgrade 800 Karnataka Public Schools

Bengaluru: The department of school education and literacy will soon issue tenders for preparation of separate detailed project reports (DPRs) to upgrade 800 Karnataka Public Schools in the state.Of the 800 schools identified for upgradation, 500 will be upgraded with financial assistance from the Asian Development Bank at an estimated cost of Rs 2,500 crore. The remaining 300 schools will be funded by Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board and Karnataka Mining Environment Restoration Corporation, at an estimated cost of Rs 700 crore. In total, the upgradation project will cost Rs 3,200 crore. Each school will need a separate detailed project report. The DPRs will cover the addition of new school buildings or additional infrastructure as there is no provision for demolition or repair of any existing infrastructure. All DPR-related work will be carried out by inviting transparent tenders under the Karnataka Transparency in Public Procurement Act, 1999.
