Yash skips birthday meet, drops fiery ‘Toxic’ update
Rocking Star Yash has cancelled his traditional birthday meet this year, saying his complete focus is on finishing Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups ahead of its grand theatrical release on March 19, 2026. In a heartfelt note, the actor told fans he did not take the decision lightly and promised to meet them “in a much bigger way” very soon. Adding to the birthday buzz, Yash released a bold new poster from Toxic, featuring him walking through fire and hinting at a violent transformation. The teaser for the film will be released on January 8—Yash’s 40th birthday—at 10:10 p.m. It is being billed as “raw and stylish” and promises a unique vision of the actor and the film’s world.
‘Jana Nayagan ’ postponed after censor legal battle
Jana Nayagan ran into a fresh censor hurdle as the CBFC defended its decision before the Madras High Court to halt certification and send the film for a fresh review. The Additional Solicitor General argued that the CBFC chairperson had the authority to order a review before issuing the certificate, especially since a member of the examining panel had raised objections. Justice P.T. Asha questioned the last-minute change in stance and the lack of transparency, asking why the filmmakers were not informed earlier. The producers countered that four of the five committee members had cleared the film and that a single objection could not override the majority, with nearly ₹500 crore at stake. After heated arguments, the High Court reserved its order, with a verdict expected on January 9 the film’s initial scheduled release date. Following the legal battle, ‘Jana Nayagan’ decided to step back from January 9 release.
SJ Suryah injured during ‘Killer’ shoot
Actor-director SJ Suryah was injured during the shoot of his upcoming film Killer in Palavakkam, Chennai. He reportedly slipped during an action sequence involving a rope and fell onto a steel structure, injuring his legs. He was rushed to a hospital, where doctors treated him for deep cuts that required stitches. His condition is stable, but the shoot has been postponed on medical advice, with doctors recommending at least 15 days of rest.
Mohanlal exits Chiranjeevi–Bobby film
Mohanlal has reportedly exited Chiranjeevi’s upcoming film, directed by Bobby, which was expected to feature him in a special cameo. The cameo was initially planned as a gesture of goodwill and was said to be unpaid due to the close relationship between the two actors. However, reports now claim that Mohanlal’s remuneration for the cameo was pegged at ₹30 crore, which the makers were unable to accommodate. The team is now reportedly considering casting a Telugu actor in the cameo role instead.
Samantha stuns in ‘Maa Inti Bangaaram’ first look
The first look of Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s Maa Inti Bangaaram presents her as a strong and fearless woman. The poster hints at a high-octane character, with a fierce gaze, seated alone in a bus and draped in a brown saree. The sharp contrast of light and shadow, combined with the rushed background, enhances the raw and rugged appeal. The striking visual suggests a battle-ready Samantha pushed to her limits.
