CBSE launches psycho-social counselling and 24×7 IVRS for Class X and XII students
Central Board of Secondary Education has rolled out the annual psycho-social counseling support services for students appearing for the examination for Class X and XII. The service is based on emotional well-being and stress management within the context of the examination cycle.The free counseling services have already begun with their initial phase and will run until June 1, 2026. The objective of this service is to ease the stress being experienced by the examinees and prepare them for their theory exams scheduled to start from Feb 17, 2026.IVRS Support System 24/7 for studentsAs part of this initiative, the CBSE has made functional a 24X7 toll-free Interactive Voice Response System. Students can use this service by dialing 1800-11-8004, and they would be given tips in Hindi and English. The IVRS service provides tips on stress-free preparation, time management, and dealing with anxiety while appearing for an examination. The system also takes care of the Frequently Asked Questions regarding examinations, along with the necessary contact information regarding the CBSE. This will enable the students to access the necessary information and avail the benefits of immediate support whenever the requirement arises.Tele-counselling network spanning India and abroadApart from the automation facility, CBSE is also providing tele-counselling services from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekdays. This enables students as well as parents to interact with experts.The panel consists of seventy-three volunteers, including principals, counsellors, special educators from CBSE affiliated schools, and qualified psychologists. Among the counsellors, sixty-one are located in India, and the rest are spread across Nepal, Japan, Qatar, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates. This distribution ensures students are well-covered by the diverse network of counsellors.Electronic Resources on the CBSE websiteCBSE has also provided online learning material on its official website, which is www.cbse.gov.in. These learning materials include learning methods for stress management, learning ways for effective studying, and emotional wellbeing learning practices. All the learning content is designed in a concise and interesting manner for access by the examinees.The Board has been encouraging students and parents to take advantage of all available counseling sessions during the examination sessions. The psycho-social support programme is a response to CBSE’s constant efforts to address students’ mental issues and provide regular counseling assistance to students during the examination sessions of Class X and XII. These services are provided to students every year to cope with the most critical academic examination sessions.
