Mumbai: 6 youngsters, including 4 minors booked for robbery; Rs 11,000 stolen after threat

MUMBAI: Six youngsters, including four minors, have been booked for robbing a passenger inside a Harbour Line train’s luggage coach at Mumbai’s Dockyard Road station on Monday.The two have been arrested, while the minors were sent to an observation home by the Government Railway Police (GRP).The boys, residents of Dongri, do odd jobs to support their families and are not enrolled in school or college. Around 4.30 pm on Monday, the group boarded a CSMT-bound local at Dockyard Road. A lone passenger was in the luggage coach when the youngsters surrounded him. One of them put a trouser belt around his neck to intimidate him and stole Rs 11,000 from his pockets. Outnumbered, the passenger did not resist. The boys then got off at Sandhurst Road station with the stolen cash. Following a complaint at Wadala GRP, police examined CCTV footage, which led to the identification and detention of all six suspects. “One of the boys over 18 has a prior crime record from when he was a juvenile,” said a police officer.
