Delhi University releases UG Admission 2026 prospectus, outlines CUET UG eligibility criteria

Delhi University has released its prospectus for undergraduate admissions for the academic year 2026–27, outlining the eligibility criteria, subject requirements, and admission process for prospective students. The university has also uploaded its detailed information bulletin on its official admission portal. As per the notification, admissions to undergraduate programmes at Delhi University will be conducted exclusively through CUET UG 2026 scores. The university has stated that there are no major changes in admission rules compared to the previous year, and the existing subject eligibility criteria will continue to apply.CUET UG 2026 mandatory for undergraduate admissionsDelhi University has clarified that admissions to all undergraduate programmes will be based solely on the scores obtained in CUET UG 2026. This rule applies to all regular undergraduate courses offered by the university. However, admissions to the School of Open Learning, the Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board, and foreign nationals are excluded from this process. The prospectus reiterates that candidates must appear for CUET UG subjects corresponding to those studied in Class 12. Students are not permitted to seek admission in a subject that they did not study during their qualifying examination, in line with the university’s existing policy.Class 12 subject requirement remains unchangedWhile CUET UG 2026 rules allow candidates to appear in subjects not studied in Class 12, Delhi University has maintained that such flexibility will not apply to its undergraduate admissions. Admission will not be granted in a subject unless it was studied at the Class 12 level. The university has emphasised that its admission policy will prevail over general CUET UG provisions. Each participating university is permitted to frame its own admission criteria, and Delhi University’s rules will be final and binding for its programmes.Subject equivalence and syllabus matching criteriaThe prospectus states that where a subject studied in Class 12 is not listed among CUET UG 2026 subjects, candidates must appear in a closely related language or domain-specific subject. For instance, a student who studied Biochemistry in Class 12 is required to appear for Biology in CUET UG 2026.To establish equivalence between Class 12 subjects and CUET UG subjects, at least 50 per cent of the syllabus must match. The university reserves the right to determine such equivalence, and its decision will be considered final. No change in DU subject combinationsDelhi University has confirmed that the subject combinations listed under List A and List B remain unchanged from the previous admission cycle. Candidates are advised to refer carefully to these lists while selecting their CUET UG subject combinations. The university has urged applicants to consult the official prospectus and information bulletin available on its admission website for complete details regarding eligibility, subject mapping, and admission procedures.
