BENGALURU: A 21-year-old unemployed woman was cheated of Rs 2 lakh when a fraudster, who introduced himself as Chandrashekhar Sugat Guruji, claimed he would tell her fortune about her marriage.Priya (name changed), who stays at a paying guest accommodation in Adugodi, told police she came across an advertisement on Instagram claiming to offer ‘Kastakke Parihara’ (solutions to hardship). A mobile number was mentioned in the ad, and when she called, a man introduced himself as Chandrashekhar Sugat Guruji. She wanted to know whether she would get married, and when and if there were any obstacles. The man said there were some problems in her horoscope and promised to help her overcome them provided she transferred money online in multiple transactions. She did so from her digital payment application and from others — Rs 2 lakh from Dec 5 to 16. When she questioned him about resolving the so-called obstacles, the man started avoiding her.
