New Mahindra XUV 7XO launched in India at Rs 13.66 lakh: Design, features, changes explained

Mahindra and Mahindra today finally launched the new Mahindra XUV 7XO SUV in the Indian market, priced from Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The new XUV 7XO is essentially the facelifted XUV 700 and the brand’s next combustion-engine model to adopt the updated naming convention, following the XUV 3XO, which transformed the XUV 300 through a significant redesign. Test drive activities are scheduled to start on January 8. Customers can book the car starting from January 14, and buyers who had pre-registered for the AX7, AX7T, and AX7L variants will be the first to receive their vehicles from that date. Meanwhile, deliveries for customers opting for the AX, AX3, and AX5 trims are slated to commence in April 2026.Design-wise, the overall silhouette remains the same but it gets a complete design overhaul at the front and rear. It features a redesigned front grille with new C-shaped LED headlamps and also gets new 7-shaped DRLs that wrap around the headlamp cluster, paired with trapezoidal LED lighting elements. The recently introduced XEV 9S appears to have inspired parts of the overall design. From the side, the silhouette closely mirrors that of the outgoing XUV700, apart from newly styled alloy wheels, while the rear is marked by a full-width LED light bar and a reshaped bumper design.

Inside, again the interior of the new 7XO takes inspiration from the XEV 9S and features a beige-tan colour scheme. Highlight of the cabin is a new triple-display layout that includes a fully digital driver’s cluster, a central touchscreen for infotainment, and a separate screen for the front passenger, and here to just like the XEV 9S, it’s offered as standard. The cabin also introduces a fresh two-spoke steering wheel, while the centre console has been reworked to swap traditional climate-control buttons for a sleek touch-based interface. Features include, triple screen setup, 6-way powered front seats, front and rear ventilated seats, multi-colour ambient lighting, two wireless chargers, panoramic sunroof, Boss Mode for the front passenger seat, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos, dual-zone climate control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Safety-wise, it gets Level 2 ADAS, a 540-degree camera, ESC, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, ISOFIX seat, TPMS, front and rear sensors, hill descent control, hill hold assist, auto-dimming IRVM and more. Mechanically, the SUV remains the same with the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre mHawk diesel.
