Anti-terror op in Doda after VDG member notices suspected movement

JAMMUI: A joint team of army and special operations group (SOG) of J&K police launched an anti-terror operation in Dessa area of Doda district after a village defence group (VDG) member observed suspicious movements near his house on Friday night.“The VDG member fired a few warning shots from his service rifle. Immediately thereafter, the necessary reinforcements were dispatched to the area,” a police spokesperson said.

Local residents have been advised to remain vigilant, stay calm, and cooperate with police, the official said. “They are also requested to cooperate with the security agencies and avoid unnecessary movement,” he added.Earlier, in a similar incident on Wednesday, a VDG member spotted suspicious movement in a village in Rajouri district on Wednesday and fired warning shots, prompting security forces to launch a combing operation in the area.
