Karnataka State Human Rights Commission calls for tents, food, water for families evicted from Kogilu | Bengaluru News
Bengaluru: Karnataka State Human Rights Commission (KSHRC) has issued interim recommendations directing the state govt and Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) to immediately provide tents, food, drinking water, healthcare and alternative shelter to families evicted from govt land at Kogilu Layout in Yelahanka taluk under Bytryanpura assembly segment.The recommendations were issued on Dec 30 by commission president Sham Bhat and member SK Ventigodi, following the eviction of around 160–170 houses. A copy of the interim order was placed in public domain Friday.Taking note of Bengaluru’s prevailing minimum temperatures of 16 to 18 degrees Celsius, the commission asked the govt to install tents on vacant govt land, supply hot food and clean drinking water, establish a mobile health centre, and arrange temporary shelter and toilet facilities for the affected families. The interim directions have been forwarded to the chief secretary and the chief commissioner of GBA for immediate compliance. TNN
