Bengaluru: During New Year celebrations Wednesday night, a 48-year-old law practitioner was booked for ramming into pedestrians outside Phoenix Mall of Asia in Sahakarnagar near Hebbal, and injuring four of them.An FIR registered at Sanjaynagar traffic police station against the advocate, identified as Sunil Kumar Singh B of Vidyaranyapura, said he was driving under the influence of alcohol when the accident took place at 10.20pm. Singh was driving Mahindra XUV 700 (KA-05-NP-3609), with his wife sitting next to him.“While driving out of the mall, Singh suddenly lost control. Driving in a rash and negligent manner, he rammed into the metal barricade installed near the pavement. He hit Akkamma, 30, Chandrashekhar, 36, Rajalakshmi, 53, Prajwal, 27, and a few other pedestrians. Singh was named accused number 1 in the FIR, followed by the security in-charge from Phoenix Mall of Asia. “We booked the security personnel since they should have stopped Singh from driving in an inebriated condition,” a senior police officer said.Homestay raidedAn illegally organised NY party at a homestay on the outskirts of the city was raided by police Wednesday midnight. A case was registered against Echoes Homestay owner Srinivas for hosting a party at Heggadehalli near Doddaballapura with loud music and alcohol without prior permission.Police seized one large sound box, five liquor bottles and five plastic glasses. No drugs were found at the party. Most of the partygoers were IT professionals, cops said.
