18,496 voters in Bengaluru Teachers’ segment | Bengaluru News
Bengaluru: The final electoral roll of the Bengaluru Teachers’ Constituency comprises 18,496 voters drawn from 28 assembly constituencies within the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) limits, chief commissioner Maheshwar Rao said Tuesday.Rao, who is also the district electoral officer for the forthcoming Legislative Council elections, met representatives of various political parties ahead of the announcement of the final roll.The voter count increased from 16,530 in the draft roll to 18,496 in the final list. The district election officer received 2,048 applications for inclusion, of which 1,965 were accepted. A total of 40 polling booths have been earmarked for the elections.GBA special commissioner (elections) R Ramachandran said eligible teachers who were left out during the final revision could apply for inclusion until the last date for filing nominations. According to the schedule issued by the Election Commission of India, the period for filing claims and objections was from Nov 25 to Dec 12, the GBA stated.The electoral roll was prepared as part of the preparations for the Legislative Council elections which will be held next year.
